FIREARM INFORMATION
We strongly recommend that rifle hunters bring their own firearms, as you are accustomed to your equipment and its setup. However, we do offer rifles for hire (in most calibers) if needed. If you plan to bring your own firearm, please inform us when booking so we can assist with the necessary procedures.

We will guide you through the entire process, including personally meeting you at the airport to help with firearm clearance with the authorities. Below are the steps to make the process as seamless as possible:

Step 1: Obtain a U.S. Customs Declaration Form 4457
Visit your nearest U.S. Customs office to obtain Form 4457, which lists your firearm(s), serial numbers, and ammunition details.
• Always carry the original, stamped copy in your passport.
• Keep photocopies readily available.
• Important: Ensure that the Form 4457 is issued in the same year of travel. If the form has an expiry date, confirm it will remain valid for the duration of your safari.

Step 2: Submit Documentation to Us
Please scan and email the following documents to us:
• A clear copy of your passport
• A copy of your Customs Declaration Form 4457
• A copy of your flight itinerary
• The completed South African Rifle Import Information Form (download it below).

Step 3: Understand Transportation Procedures
To transport your firearm in and out of the U.S., you only need the Customs Declaration Form 4457.

Upon Arrival in South Africa:
1. Go through passport control and collect your general luggage at the carousel.
2. Your firearms will be sent to the firearms clearing area.
3. Look for one of our guides after you pass through the glass doors in the arrival area.
4. Together, we will meet the firearms representative and proceed to the clearing area.
5. Present your passport, Form 4457, and luggage tag, and sign for your rifle’s release.
6. Open your rifle case for a serial number verification against the permit.
7. Sign the SAP520 form and register book, then wait for the release of your firearm.
8. Ensure your permit contains the correct name, serial number, and departure date.
9. Keep the permit in your gun case and present it to the authorities during departure to ensure smooth clearance.
